The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) requires compressed gas cylinders to be tested every three, five, or ten years. The most common method is hydrostatic testing. State Cylinder has the authorization to perform visual and hydrostatic tests to keep your business on track.
Our Process
At State Cylinder, our trained and certified technicians inspect, test, and recertify steel, aluminum, and composite compressed gas cylinders in accordance with DOT requirements.
Inspection
Our process starts with a visual inspection of the interior and exterior of your cylinder to check for damages and defects.
Pressure Testing
After inspection, our technicians begin hydrostatic testing. Your cylinder will be filled with water, secured to a testing head, and submerged inside a steel water jacket. Once sealed, the cylinder is pressurized to ensure it will not rupture when filled with compressed gas.
Recertification
If all testing and inspection criteria are met, our technicians will recertify the cylinder using visible markings that include the month and year of the test and the facility where the cylinder was tested.
