Eddy Current Testing

Eddy Current Testing is a testing process required by the U.S. Department of Transportation as part of the testing and recertification of older aluminum cylinders. State Cylinder can recertify these cylinders with proper testing. Let our team of trained technicians help you today!

Our Process

Many older cylinders can still be found in use in a variety of applications, including SCUBA, medical gases, beverage gases, and SCBA.
Our team will help you recertify your cylinder with Eddy Current Testing.

Electromagnetic Probe
& Analyzer

Our qualified technicians will use an electromagnetic probe and analyzer to scan the threads of a cylinder for flaws, fractures, and cracks that may be too small to be visible.

Recertification

Eddy Current Testing helps ensure a customer’s aluminum cylinder is safe to use. If your cylinder passes this test, your cylinder will be recertified.

Replacement

If our technicians discover any cracks in your cylinder, your equipment cannot be returned to service. Because a neck crack structurally compromises the tank, it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. We take the proper steps to safely deactivate and dispose of your retired cylinder.
